How We Started

Our roots trace back to the early 1990s, when our founder, Jose Luis Garcia, immigrated from Mexico with a vision: to build a better life for his family. He arrived in California with determination in his heart, taking seasonal farm work across California and Oregon, following the harvests and the seasons. Eventually, he made his way north to Washington, drawn by the promise of steady work.

It was in Washington that Jose was introduced to something new—salal picking and wreath making. His peers taught him the ropes, and he quickly saw the potential in this new line of work. It wasn’t just the ability to earn more that appealed to him, but the stability of the season and the fact that he no longer had to uproot his life constantly. The Pacific Northwest landscape—dense with evergreens, quiet rivers, and misty mountains—felt like something he had seen in his dreams back in Mexico. He would often say, “I dreamt of this place before I ever knew it existed.”

Jose settled in Shelton, Washington, and not long after, he brought his family to the U.S., driven by his unwavering goal: to give his children a chance at a better life. For over a decade, he worked in the forest, picking salal and making Christmas wreaths by hand. It was hard work, but it was honest, and it laid the foundation for something bigger.

In 2007, Jose took a leap of faith and started his own business, supplying salal to local wholesalers. It was a bold move—but one fueled by years of experience, deep industry relationships, and an unmatched work ethic. The business steadily grew, and by 2015, Jose’s oldest child, Betsaid Garcia, joined the business Part-time while attending the University of Washington. Together, they brought fresh energy and ambition to the company, expanding operations internationally and increasing revenue to support their family—including helping younger siblings attend college and chase their own dreams.

Since then, our family business has built a reputation rooted in quality, reliability, and integrity. We’ve grown from a small salal operation into a trusted supplier of Western greens across the U.S. and internationally. Over time, we also expanded into the Christmas market—growing both our wholesale holiday offerings and developing a premium line of handcrafted products available through our online store. Our e-commerce platform allows us to share the beauty and craftsmanship of the Pacific Northwest with families and businesses nationwide, one wreath, bouquet, or centerpiece at a time.

What started as one man’s dream has blossomed into a multi-generational business, guided by tradition, sustained by family, and inspired by nature. We remain committed to sustainability, strong partnerships, and the same honest work that brought us here.
